Anthropocene

spring morning --
butterflies ignore
the pale lotus
missing frog songs . . .
the river skinned with
mud cracks
topographic map—
hillocks buried under
skyscrapers
eclipses
now and then—
thick smoke
lost into emptiness . . .
the silence
of vanished glaciers
everything brown—
consulting Wikipedia
for the meaning of green
sinking deeper
into the well…
my lost lifeline
